The objective of this article was to provide a consensus-based short list of effective indicators to measure health system responsiveness to the needs of older adults which would be relevant to informing public policy. An e-Delphi study was done with no direct interaction between respondents. Virtual surveys were sent to 141 participants with experience in analysis and monitoring of health indicators, management of health systems, and health care of older adults. A baseline list of 24 previously published indicators was used.

To document trends in inequity in homicide rates in Mexico for the period 2000–2021, at the state and national levels.

Methods

An observational, longitudinal ecological study was conducted in which standardized homicide mortality rates were estimated, by municipality and sex. Municipalities were classified in five groups, according to the Social Lag Index. The absolute inequality gap was obtained, as well as differences between groups with very high and very low social lag, for each year of the study period.

To examine the homicide trends among young people (10–24 years), adolescents (10–19 years), and young adults (20–24 years) in 33 countries in the Americas between 2000 and 2019, with a focus on inequalities between countries in the burden of homicides.

Methods

An ecological study was performed using estimated deaths from 33 countries. Age-adjusted rates, percentage change (PC), average annual percentage change (AAPC), and relative risk (RR) were estimated; besides, analysis on social inequalities was performed.

We describe the outcomes of The Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes-Elimination of Cervical Cancer in The Americas (ECHO-ELA) program, which was developed as a tri-lateral cooperation between Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), the U.S. National Cancer Institute (NCI) and The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (MD Anderson). The program’s purpose is to disseminate strategies for cervical cancer prevention and is structured around the three pillars of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Cervical Cancer Elimination Strategy and the associated 90-70-90 target goals.

The present narrative review discusses the relevance and challenges of community participation in health for health system strengthening. Based on a definition of community participation in health as a dynamic process that gives people access and control over health resources through involvement and experience, the article summarizes information obtained from documents and debate at an international event (Seminario Internacional: Experiencias y Modelos de Participación en Salud en América Latina y el Caribe).
