The Pan American Journal of Public Health (PAJPH), in partnership with the PAHO Health Emergencies Department,
launches a new Intelligence Brief section to strengthen the timely scientific dissemination of evidence generated
through epidemic intelligence and public health surveillance across the Region of the Americas.

This initiative transforms PAHO’s epidemiological products —such as Epidemiological Alerts, Updates, and Rapid Risk Assessments —into peer-reviewed, openly accessible brief reports. In doing so, it reinforces PAHO’s commitment
to transparency, scientific rigor, while enabling the translation of surveillance data into actionable public health knowledge.

The Intelligence Briefs highlight emerging threats, evolving trends, and critical vulnerabilities, with confirmed or potential
regional or international public health relevance. Through a concise and standardize structure, the section facilitates
rapid scientific communication while maintaining high methodological standards and analytical rigor, enabling researchers,
practitioners, and decision-makers to timely access reliable analyses of unfolding events of international public health importance.

Published on a rapid track, both English and Spanish, this new section strengthen the interface between operational
public health practices and scientific publication. It further consolidates PAHO’s leadership in epidemic intelligence
and support Member States in preparedness, early warning and response capacities across the Region of the Americas.
